My name is Byron Dzamasiya, I work for Zimbabwe Environmental Law Association (ZELA). We are working on a three-year project funded by Diakonia which targets women in Mhondongori and Mapirimira in Zvishavane where we help them with sustainable solutions to economic-related problems.

The workshop we had today was meant to link women with financial institutions and teach them to access different financial services to develop their businesses.

What I noticed today as a facilitator is that women were not exposed to issues to do with financial institutions, they thought financial institutions are for the learned and rich.

They had a lot of questions regarding services being provided so they had an opportunity to interact with banks and got clarity on issues to do with money.

Women in rural mining communities have limited opportunities to participate in business. Therefore, this project is meant to give them adequate skills and help them with problems that are affecting them.
